Despite my dislike of how the US is handling the war in Iraq and Afghanistan you aught to know my stance on Islam.
Islam is the religion of war. Face it! Oh, you do not have to accept it from me. Please take it from the "horses mouth" and read and study the Qur'an, make notes on the scriptures you read!
There is a fairly good translation by N.J. Dawood (Penguin books) and if you prefer to read translations written in pseudo "King-James-Bible- English" read the Abbduhlah Yusuf Ali - or Mohammed Pickthall's translations.
Look, Muhammad taught his followers that there is nothing better (or holier) than jihad warfare, and he told his men to offer non-Muslims only three choices:
Conversion,
subjugation (law of Dhimma)
or death.
That's Islam for you in a nutshell.

It isn't through fueling these sentiments that we will reach a peaceful civil accord. Let's concentrate on what in the Quran emphasizes love, tolerance, and acceptance. You, my dear zee, by picking a few lines out of an extensive and highly complex text, and making it whatever in a nutshell, are doing exactly what the few murderous theocrats are doing. Focusing on the one detail that serves their vile cause and proclaiming it as absolute truth to the gullible masses.
fouad The closest the Qur"an comes to tolerance is to counsel believers to leave the unbelievers alone in their errors:
"Say: Oh disbelievers! I worship not that ye worship; nor worship ye that I wish I worship. And I shall not worship that which ye worship. Nor will ye worship that which I worship." (Qur'an 109:1-6)
I did not pick a "few lines out of a complex text" fouad, it is the resumé of the content of the Qur"an as I see it. I mean really, follow Muhammad's biography. He never taught peace, instead he ordered and led armies to assassinate his enemies.
No other religion has that call of violence imbedded as Islam does.
Just to be coy I will quote from "Matthew 5:44
"Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you"
And then the Qur'an 8:60
"Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war to strike terror into the hearts of the enemies, of Allah and your enemies, and others besides, whom ye may not know, but whom Allah doth know.
Islam is the "youngest" of all religions Fouad, unfortunately also the one who degenerated quickest into perversion not being able to transform to present human consciousness - not that it was "a blast" to begin with ....
Think it over, study the damn scriptures. As long as people even remotely take the Qur'an as face value, there will be war.
All schmalzy peace talk will do nothing to alter that fact and the "gullible masses" will learn their lesson by dying.
