what are you going to say now, Aussie friend?

OK, so I am sort of halfway unemployed, an artists choice I guess. I could work for WallMart part time, Home Depot or Radioshack (if I shave first and then put a tie on) or the local grocery store if I handle to stack shelves with fried bean cans. I don't imagine my future to be this way.
OK, so here is my final proposition. I will open a Chinese restaurant, right here in downtown Hillsdale. I like to cook and I like Chinese people. What a combination!
All I need now is start capital. Would you please donate through the PayPal link below? You thereby could become a shareholder for my venture. It is indeed a viable thing to invest in local initiatives. You knew that, but I just would like to remind you of it.

So the Banking Situation is not fixed in the US, the DOW has dropped to 7500 something, Oil is below $50 a barrel, naughty executives fly from Detroit in three separate private jets to bargain with congress for a 25$ billion bail out?
Let's scrap the private jets - then talk!
Even Red Neck folks have no mercy anymore, and they should know...
Go to CNN and read the last articles.
Am I upset? Fuck no - I am devastated, and so will you be in the end.
Time to change gears. Time to invest locally. And I am not even going to be mad if you don't invest in my Chinese restaurant called "Golden Dragon"... Just be mindful to put effort into your own local community!!!

I hope you don't mean that you want to cook Chinese people!

Radio Shack? I worked there through college and learned a lot, but now I've forgotten it.

I think one of the most nefarious aspects of this whole situation is that regardless of how or where we, the little folks, the plebians, are feeling it or not (yet), it has created an energetic movement all its own, and THAT we all feel. You, me, my kids, everyone. Sick of the upper-crust bullshit? Absolutely. But the part that concerns me is the etheric, almost unconscious detriment we all feel from the fallout and subsequent media blitz.
As for local: yes, my friend, and perhaps it's time to return to a largely agrarian society; certainly Marcy and I yearn to do just that more and more as the days pass and the dark fog settles over the land. TImes are fucking hard right now, and to change course is to (I love this metaphor) turn a tanker about amid rough seas.
Let's discuss this further with other broadened minds: I'm going to try to convince Marcy to have a post-holiday Fire Ring of Thanks out by the stream, under the apple tree, perhaps the Friday after Thanksgiving. Let's keep in touch and aim for that, how does that sound?

Just kidding.

so my questions to you are;
do you wash your hands often enough?
Do people in Hillside know and like you? (enough to come to your restaurent??)
Can you do 'dim sum'?
Perhaps you can do a combination restaurent and attraction bit. A little museum/art gallery of sorts with a little chinese bistro type place attached to it..a chinese tea house?
Think of making people want to drive to Hillside for an outing..art/shopping/eating??
hmmm...

Sounds good LEE - the fire ring that is. Give me a call sometimes before the event, my brain is like one of those things where you drain pasta. Is it called sieve?

Oh, something more LEE...
It is indeed very practical to start your own garden, add some chickens, and you are all set. The only drawback, you will not be able to take a vacation in the Caribbeans. But heck, would you be able to afford it now?
With all due respect, I think that planting vegetables (it doesn't need a lot of space) is the way to go.

you are a sharp cocky!
Art and food, leisure and take out convenience, beauty and a full belly. You wanna come here and manage this?

Zeester... I wish!! I can seriously brainstorm over it more.. if it ever would turn into a really good idea with a great business plan, you could get it funded by an investor..really..
shoot me an email if you're serious about it. Through asking questions we can get this thing 'finessed'!! (and find a way for you to remain your creative self)

What am I going to say?

Anybody who says he can pick the bottom (or the top) of a market (driven either by fear or greed) is having themselves on but as I recall it you predicted a Dow to be below 7000 not 8000, although no doubt it could still get there. But at the moment it is back over 8000, due to the ‘Geithtner bounce’.

The fallout from what is happening in the USA is effectively exporting its misery all over the place and it is in every body’s interest that the USA starts putting its house back in order. There is no doubt that the position is getting worse, as I noticed on the latest data on actual new housing, starts are the lowest ever since your department began tracking starts in 1959. But I’m not really holding my breath about anything positive over there until well into the New Year.

I notice Obama has picked Timothy Geithner,to be the next Treasury Secretary who has been in the thick of it recently since he was involved in advising the government on the takeover of American International Group Inc., the Fed’s Bear Sterns Co rescue and the decision to let Lehman Bros fail in September.

You’re going to have the equivalent of socialism for some time over there and no doubt folks down south are going to be mighty unhappy about that. Since already you are now the proud owner of Freddie & Fannie who write 40% of all mortgage business, various holdings in numerous banks, an interest in the largest insurer in the world, possibly now Citigroup and soon the auto industry and ……..

Well, everyone still has to eat so the Chinese restaurant might be okay but I thought there would be better margins and more fun in a coffee shop with performing artists; charge customers a small admittance fee plus the coffee? ‘Zee Troubadour” because it is at Zees Troubadour where hearts are free and you can dance and sing, so you must make it your rendezvous ………..what more could you ask, in the meantime would be an investment in happiness for starters.

Best wishes

Ha..I like 'Zee Troubadour'...LOL..good one Lindsay!!
yes, small scale might help getting funded..but you're going to go the responsible route of becoming certified (which ever 'one' [g]**)..brainstorming is important though..

take care,

Ingrid
