naked tree "competition" for lyrics

As we approach yet an other week of labor and sweat, nature is whispering: Calm down!
Listen to the cranky voice of Tom Waits for a few minutes and it will make you kick your audio system into shambles and make flying little pieces flaring around in mid air in no time. Nothing against Tom per say. He got some good blues tunes worth listening to. But he is sooooo Monday; or was that so mundane? Without his back up band he would barely compete with a rooster having pneumonia. But hey, he's got some fine lyrics. Maybe that's what counts these days, and that's where you come in...
This is not a Haiku competition even though there is a Haiku on that photograph from my evening walk. This is a competition about you doing the lyrics - you write them, and I and my friends will come up with the sound. So, go ahead and be creative. A personalized mp3 version will be awaiting if you happen to be the "winner" of the lyric crafts contest!
Have an excellent Monday and a fair sailing in the week ahead!
Sharpen your pen and write something that makes a tune roll...
The final blockbuster hit will be published here - and everywhere else of course, let's make history!
Oh, I forgot to mention, the theme is: FALL !

Subscribe Free
the music you hear was a totally spontaneous session between brother Pete (cello) and me on guitar, voice and violin on July 4th... There you go, you're up for trouble. Win this contest and become immortal. We will be doing a much better job than we did with these Dylan lines you listening to right now, maybe your own song therefore will sparkle and stand out like a gem ....

As for some lyrics;
I long for the Sea where the Western Wind blows.
Now i live in the North in the land of ice and snow.

Ha! I do enjoy reading your blog!

you have a better voice than dylan.

here's what i have so far:

lately the sound of the leaves drifting down
fills my heart with sadness
birds are all gone, and there's no one in town
oh it's just too bad, it's
blowing tonight, hear the trees sigh
watch as the wind throws the leaves by

chorus
days they go slowly, the years rush by
days they go slowly, the years rush by
my window

lately the sound of the newfalling snow
fills an empty silence
nights are so long, and there's nowhere to go
icy words confine us
don't you recall how we once had
so much to say, now it's all bad

chorus
days they go slowly, the years rush by
days they go slowly, the years rush by
my window

it needs another verse, but not today

Beautiful, Zee. I love the sound of string instruments, always have :)

As for the lyrics, I will leave that for the more creative and inspired types. I will enjoy the final result :)

Fall

Fading colours, not yet black winter’s night
Migrating birds whose paths are white dots
Music of their familiar calls in the fading light
Fade with the shiny spheres of night

Gentle breeze and the rustle of falling leaves
I found your message on the ground,
You clothe us in nature’s inner calm.

From the green high country to rocky barren cape
Sea birds gather where the ocean drops
To feast upon our oceans depleted garden crop

Gentle breeze and the rustle of falling leaves
I found your message on the ground,
You clothe us in nature’s inner calm.

In the prairies and your gorges
May we in love in falls delight

Okay Zee. I dropped by a few days ago, finally came up with something today. Had a melody and lost it, but maybe you'll be able to do something with it. Or not. Feel free use it freely in any capacity, but if by chance it becomes a million dollar hit, please do toss some spare change my way, because I'm dirt poor. Also feel free to edit freely: omit, add, or rearrange, do whatever needs to be done to make it work.

FALL TIME POEM

fall time is falling
time is falling again
fall time is falling
time is falling again

fall time
time falls
its that time of year
reminding us all
of the patterns of change
as the leaves rearrange
colors and sounds
falling to the ground
back to the earth
back to the sea
recycled ashes of mystery

its a seasonal dance
between the earth and the sky
the sun and the moon
between you and I
the seasons spin around
until the year is complete
and the cycle repeats
what a glorious feat

each season marks a change
a celebratory dance
of thanksgiving and forgiveness
of unity and balance
between the forces of life
and the forces death
the forces of change
and we're all a part of the game
the great dance of seasonal change

The fall time is here
marking the passage of time
making it clear
between summer and winter
between yesterday and tomorrow
between happiness and sorrow
its the fall time
that in between time
that time between youth and old age

fall time is here again
the seasons have run their course
the harvest is in
the summer is gone
sitting by a fire as the embers burn on
as the days fall shorter
and the nights grow long
another full year has come all around

fall time is falling
time is falling again
fall time is falling
time is falling again

Nice piece you've posted. I don't do lyrics but will come by to listen to the progress. There are some good ones already.

hmm, I'm not as eloquent as Cym or Lindsay but here goes;

Retreat with me for now
let it all hang down and
springtime rejuvenation will follow

Here's another simpler one (I think the other one is kind of rough, needs more work/editing), that's pretty much ready to go (but you can always add to it if you want).

Fall Poem #2

Sitting by the fire on a cool fall night in November.
Listening to the silence as the stars grow bright
as an ember.
Watching and Waiting, Thinking and Meditating,
in the stillness of the night.
Drinking my beer, everything's clear,
the darkness is here, with nothing to fear...
by the fire, on a cool November night.
