Just A Poll

... and for all our fine US patriots: Have a great 4th of July celebration!
Let's hope next year same time there will be even more reason for jubilations when the present cronies are out of office.

FOr human development - for peace, for love, for meaning, for beauty, for our minds, bodies and spirits. Otherwise, we can do without the arts, right?

As essential as water and air.

Of course and it pains me we see so little art and music in the schools.

A friend told me a long time ago that, "Man needs Art." To which, I couldn't agree more whole-heartedly, except to say that Man needs art of a certain character.

For example, I am thinking of a sculpture (artist unknown) on idsplay outside of a gallery in Orlando, which is obviously a study of line rendered in 3-D. Such a thing is similar to a singer singing a scale. It demonstrates a particular adroitness on the part of the artist -- a demonstration of art, not art itself.

In days long past, when I first went to college, I went as an architecture major. A great deal of this had to do with my revulsion for, what I term, the crackerjack box with windows design, which I find to be so prevalent. A building should be as much about creating an ambience as erecting a shelter.

For example, look behind the statue in your photo there. That, too, is art.

And yes, Man needs Art.

Amsterdam is melting at the moment, there's a serious heatwave going on. But I don't mind. I say long beautiful legs under a mini-jupe is art too Zee! We need it!

The arts are essential, of course.

Hi Zee. I've been checking in on your blog for a few days, seeing you over at Meander's. I like what you're doing here.
