on a lighter note

Of course my nature is that I am always nagging and critical. But now I think my daughter did a fairly good job when assigned to do a self-portrait in art class in her senior year, actually it is damn good, 'cause it is painted in oil colors, they are not that easy to handle, and you would know it if you ever tried them out for yourself. So I'm not nagging now - instead I am rather pleased!

thanks Sunrise, sometimes it is also a strain of luck, mixed with patience, endurance and a steady hand.

Wow! You should be proud - of a terrific artist and a beautiful, confident looking young woman. My daughter is impressive beyond me as well. Just how did we do it? :)

It's fantastic, and the subject is lovely. I used to paint in oil, so I know what you're saying.

I don't know Gary. In our sleep?

SCARLET-
welcome to my board of snippets. "Sunburst" is a mixed bag indeed.
I do not concentrate on politics, beauty or personal diaries - but they are all weaved in somehow. Sometimes I have something to say about sculpture or sensuality ... rare these days. Anyhow, feel free to visit again.

As you remarked on Gary's blog, it seems Gary you and myself have all coincidently completed a posting on our daughters. check out my latest addition with youngest daughter on TV talking and singing about downshifting- best wishes.

I have to say that it IS really hard to do a self portrait and she did more than just a 'good job'..Awesome work with the oils! isn't it funny that when doing a self portrait one always looks so serious??? I had to do one myself in art class in middle school and the teacher asked if he could put it up.. you guessed it.. NO SMILES there either! How big is this painting of hers? I found that to get the proportions right was tough on a small scale. It looks like this was a bigger scale which ought to be difficult too..
Btw..is this your daughter from the previous pics? Around Christmas time? She is a pretty girl and poor you to be her dad, ha! (that's what I tell my husband with our daughter as well, ok , she's only 4 but STILL...lol)
Thanks for posting this. I've been away much too long from my blogger circle and now I'm finally getting back in the swing of it.
How'r things Zee?
hugs
Ingrid

The painting is about 19 x 13 inches Ingrid or something in that ball-park.
She did it by copying it from a photograph, raster and all ...
My daughter carries along two baseball bats, all the time - and she knows how to use them. In this respect I am not worried.
There are other things of concern that I will not elaborate in public.
