my heart is crazy for you

HEARTYou might wish to click on this link, it is the best version of "Crazy on you" from the Pop-Rock group HEART on uTube.

It is interesting to note, that the song "Barracuda", the recording, was played at the end of the Republican convention - a good song indeed. Funny though, next day the ladies call up to tell the press and the Repub-committee that they disassociate from that party and that it would have only been fair to ask them first, before playing one of their hit songs for such an event. (Nevermind the compensations that should have been clarified beforehand). It is just ironic, that I stumbled across this news on FOX TV at the local red-neck bar.

"Barracuda" was played at the 2008 Republican National Convention after speeches by the party's presidential nominee John McCain and his vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin (most likely a reference to Palin's nickname "Barracuda"). The song was played without Heart's consent. On September 5, 2008, the Wilson sisters made a statement to the press: "Sarah Palin's views and values in NO WAY represent us as American women. We ask that our song 'Barracuda' no longer be used to promote her image. The song 'Barracuda' was written in the late 70s as a scathing rant against the soulless, corporate nature of the music business, particularly for women. (The 'barracuda' represented the business.) While Heart did not and would not authorize the use of their song at the RNC, there's irony in Republican strategists' choice to make use of it here." They later announced that the Republican campaign had been sent a cease-and-desist order from Sony BMG and Universal Music. (quoted from that Wikipedia thing)

Anyhow, when you click on the link, you will see a fine life example of how that group performed in their hay-days.

My personal heart needs some adjustment also, maybe some of the ladies who post here regularly, have the scent of a woman who knows.
There is a "saying-question" in the German tongue, when someone is grumpy: "Ist dir etwas über die Leber gelaufen?" (is there something that walked across your liver?) Well, that is precisely it!
My liver is bombarded by issues.
I'll be a full blown optimist some day again, don't worry. On that day we all will celebrate!

yes zeester..I've noticed that 'somethin's up' with you (perhaps you commented on that previous comment I haven't checked yet).
It is McCain theme; use music without asking permission only to be slammed by those musicians that they in no way want to be associated with them.
I loved listening to Heart in my younger years..both songs are awesome and that voice..boy..razor sharp and crystal clear oooh baraCUda..

hugs

Ingrid

I've always liked that song, and that version definitely is one of the better ones I've seen/heard - Thanks for sharing it.

I agree with that German saying about the liver. Similarly, in Traditional Chinese Medicine, anger is the emotion most associated with the liver. It is said that, "The Physician who knows how to harmonize the liver knows how to treat the hundred diseases."

Healthy Liver Energy: Creative, full of vitality, gets things started, sets goals, dynamic, solves problems.

Unhealthy Liver energy: Disempowered, always tired, stressed out, feels blocked or stuck, can’t move forward, frustrated, depressed, irritable.

They were a great band. It's weird that all this time after they still have to fight the same jerks wearing different suits.

shrugs. i think it's rude. if you pay the royalties, you should be able to play a song wherever you want. I just looked on iTunes, and six different Heart versions of the song are available. republicans, mermaids, africans, women, artists, sugarcane pickers, it shouldn't matter, if you buy the song/pay royalties, you should be able to play it. to make a political issue of it in such a public way is embarrassing.
as to your heart, zee. or your liver. i hope you find your balance and happiness.
ich wunche immer alles gut fur dich.

INGRID
yes, those two sisters were definitely talented. I actually replayed the intro of that song several times with the ambition to learn it...

CYM
who was the half-god that was fastened to a rock and a crow picked on his liver every day; was it Prometheus? I think so, but I am not 100% sure. Wasn't he but there because he brought fire to the earthly siblings, and that was supposed to be his punishment? Can't remember how the story ends though...
Well, you are one of the few who actually know about my liver. We'll keep it that way. So yes, I feel like Prometheus but with the difference that I have yet to deliver the fire.

SUSAN
...same jerks, different suits - I like that!

SERAPHINE
Heck, I don't know what to think of you Sera. Sometimes you are bold, and other times you are deeply philosophical.
It is one thing to blast a cover-tune in a club from an other band and get away without paying royalties, perhaps... It is an other thing to sound out a tune at a convention that is done by the most powerful country on earth, where millions all over the globe are watching (and hearing).
Out of courtesy I would have asked HEART before I use their tune.
It is funny, music is a "time-art", you can't really own it like say a painting, a photograph or a sculpture. It evolves through the experience of time, the substance etheric, but nonetheless powerful. To "steal" it for a political forum of this dimension without asking, is a bit uncanny to me.

Well yeah, it's a bit worrying to think that someone who aspires to rule the most powerful country of the world doesn't even think to ask permission to play a song at such a highly visible event. Mhm... not fit to rule, I would say. (Not really for that reason, but that just confirms it, I guess.)

I hoffe, was au immer über dini Läbere glaufe isch, lauft schnäll wieder zrugg detane wos her choo isch!

I have noticed some grumpiness in you lately, Zee. It hasn't made me love you any less, but I have been worried, hence, my last comment to you about being angry...

Anyway, I hope the stars align in such a way again that will have you feeling less grumpy and your heart/liver feeling less trampled.

Cym beat me to it, was going to comment the same thing about the liver :)

My liver has been suffering too since I came back home... Oh well, these times will pass (I hope)!

Did you get my email??

What to say - thank you all. Got to go to bed because I need rest. Tomorrow I will demolish the rest of a bathroom and start making it all new again. After that I might find some time to individually thank you for your responses.

aha, i'd be grumpy too if my bathroom was disassembled. you can only hold it in for so long.

I'm with seraphine, I'd be grumpy without a bathroom too!! Hope you get the job done quickly and can move on to better things :)
