What's up

Here is a sketch from the student I coach and this is which she intends to carve. She is going to carve this into marble. The inspirational gesture of a cupid, Rodin style...
Her present project is also coming along well, you saw the images earlier on. I will post the progress as it unfoldes.

Besides of her endeavors, what's up? We all have seen the videos of Saddam, we all continue to wonder what is going on. What is it that actually is going on?
I procrastinated on a job today, and instead of taking a nap, switched on the tube in the house I'm renovating. Haven't done that for a while, I don't watch TV at all usually. So there was this endless report about G. Ford's coffin being removed in slow motion, what a tedious thing. It put me to sleep while I was trying to switch channels between NBC, CNN and C-Span. Gerald Ford, who made the fucker be pardoned in order to stay in line with the nation, a peace of sorts. (don't hurry them, don't worry them). I don't have much good to say about him, unless you pick out positive attributes of his physical appearance, his stern forehead maybe...
Rumsfeld gave a nice speech, so did Carter. Actually Carter's speech was quite well done - amazing, since I still think of him as that peanut farmer. Probably 50% of Americans are now allergic to peanuts, what the heck ....

Anyway, what's up?!
Like to hear how your new year has started.
Mine is going full blast for now, 2007 will be great!

What a nice start for 2007, to assist in that way and to follow in the steps of Rodin. Nice sketches and subject matter.

-Speaking of new year thinking, Rodins aestheticism, for your gifted student : I quote

What makes my Thinker think is that he thinks not only with his brain, with his knitted brow, his distended nostrils and compressed lips, but with every muscle of his arms, back, and legs, with his clenched fist and gripping toes.

How about a post with pictures showing some of his great works. : there would be many to take your breath away!!

Off the subject strangely enough I watched the same TV program on Foxtell over here, of the funeral, but I didn’t hear the speeches. Jimmy Carter to me made a muck of things when President, he never seemed to come to grips with the position, but he also seemed to be a thoroughly decent sort of chap don’t you think?

Best wishes

wow, that's some undertaking with those wings and things! hope she does a fine job!

speaking from a UK perspective, Ford is the only exception in my lifespan in that I can't think of a single funny thing about him. yeah, peanut farmer carter, nixon of course, reagan, bush I & II, and clinton....but Ford? hmm. It's a good thing he died really because I'd forgotten he was alive!

2007 - so far, so good!

New year? Re-evaluating priorities, spending more time writing a book, less time online.

That's an ambitious project, and I'll be watching to see how it develops. I like her idea.

You have such interesting students... and an eclectic life. I bet 2007 will be great for you too.

Mine has started with lots of snow (more than usual), quiet time, many life changes on the horizon...and too much work.

I think I might sell everything and move to Vanuatu - I'll keep blogging of course!

2007 has started quite slow for me, so that is a sign that it can only get better :-) I'm back with my blog, Zee, so add me back to your list if you wish to do so and come and visit me anytime :-)

That's some kind of paradisal island in the south pacific, isn't it? I have to Google it....
Are you serious about this, or somewhat serious?
Do you need a "deck-hand"? I'll volunteer on an instant!

Lindsay - I see what I can do and scan in some pictures. Yes, and I do think that Carter is a decent chap. He actually accomplished more after the time he spend as president.

Ian, I let her carve the wings as a relief (half-round).

What's the topic or title of your book Madcap?

A very old Scottish folksong about a fratricide. Cheerful, huh? Mostly I just want to prove to myself that I've got enough discipline to finish a big project. I guess time will tell.
